POISE For Life Turns 2

This week marks the crossing of 2 milestones for me.

đŸ„‡ First, my company POISE For Life Management Consulting (https://lnkd.in/gSsC7FDU) turned 2 years old. This company was set up after I exited 3 decades as a corporate employee in HR development, organization development and change management.

This solo-preneur journey thus far has been liberating yet demanding more discipline of me in the way I work and live my life.

As an Emergenetics Asia Pacific coach I’m conscious of my MPA and LPA (most and least preferred attributes) in the background, helping me navigate the ebb and flow of work & life. I tapped into the thinking attributes that energised me thus, working through my strengths. I made sure I gave myself a break when I spent too much time utilising my least preferred attributes.

Running my own company required me to un-learn a corporate mindset and learn an entrepreneurial mindset. I had to be consciously self-empowering since “self-empowerment” is part of my company’s name (POISE is an acronym for POssibilities Inspired by Self-Empowerment).

Self-empowerment is not easy even though I run a workshop to develop this in others. I’m the class’s “live specimen” 😅 as we learn together.

đŸ„ˆ Second milestone – after 2 years as President of International Association of Facilitators (IAF) – Singapore, I decided to run for another 2-year term. There was no other candidate but members still needed to vote. Thankfully I was re-elected and the best part was: I got to continue to work with the same group of Council members except for 1 drop-out and 1 new entry.

The 6 of us are different in temperament, views, age and hail from different industries. Yet these differences did not impair our working relationship. I believe deep down, our Values are similar and align to IAF’s value of “promoting the power of facilitation” to impact positive change.

😇 As I look back on this week, I feel fortunate to be able to pursue a new career that I find fulfilling and joyful on the one hand, and being part of helping to grow the facilitation community on the other hand. 🙌
