Recently, I helped two of my friends’ children, ranging from 15 to 17 years old, arrived at a better understanding of themselves through the Youth Emergenetics® report.
They saw the Youth Emergenetics® as another “personality test” and were curious to find out what they were like, how to get along with their class and project mates, and what is their uniqueness. In a word, I guess they were looking for a unique self identity that they are comfortable with.
I corrected their notion that Emergenetics was “another personality test”; it is more than that – it is a science-based psychometric assessment that makes a connection between human behaviour and thinking styles.
The Youth Emergenetics® Report and the Adult Emergenetics® Report use the same Emergenetics® Theory i.e. 4 Thinking Attributes and the 3 Behavioural Attributes to understand themselves. For the former it takes into account the impact of the three developmental stages of pre-adolosence (9 to 12 yo), early adolescence (13 to 15 yo) and late adolescence (16 to 18 yo) of the youth, too.
I spent an hour with each young man/lady, one-to-one, explaining the Youth Emergenetics® Report. We discussed how to overcome their self-doubt, what was contributing to it; considered awkward situation with friends, and suggested ways to motivate them to do (or not do) certain tasks.
I found the sessions refreshing, giving me better appreciation of their world and their challenges.
You may be a parent, guardian, uncle/aunt or teacher and if you desire to have a better relationship or improve communication with your child or your charge, drop me a line to find out how the Youth Emergenetics® could meet your needs.
Below are their testimonials of the sessions (all names have been changed for privacy’s sake):
“I took the Youth Emergenetics as I was curious how different would it be from other “personality tests”. The difference for Emergenetics was there was a certified coach to explain my profile to me and answered my questions pertaining to my unique situation. This gave me a better understanding of myself.” (Tan, 17 yo boy sitting for the ‘A’ level exams soon)
“The Youth Emergenetics profile described me quite well like I feel that was how I think and behave usually. Now I can understand my character through the use of more positive language.” (Eva, 15 yo girl in secondary school)

“Having just entered polytechnic from secondary school, it was a period of adjusting to the new school environment. The Youth Emergentics profile and coach helped give me another perspective of how I can better adjust to the change and also helped me to understand myself better.” (Lillian, 17 yo female, 1st year polytechnic
